Play Therapy

Play is a child’s natural language, and toys are their words. In play therapy, children use play to express thoughts, feelings, and experiences they may not yet have the words for.

At Full Spectrum Counseling, play therapy helps children process challenges, build emotional regulation, and develop resilience in a way that feels natural and non-threatening. Our approach is guided by the 20 Therapeutic Powers of Play, which show how play supports healing through imagination, mastery, connection, and emotional expression.

We integrate both directive and non-directive methods to balance structure with freedom. Sessions are tailored to each child’s developmental stage and needs. Parents are active partners in the process, learning strategies and insights that continue the healing at home.

Jared provides trainings for professionals on the therapeutic powers of play, the self of the therapist, and Jungian influences in play therapy. These presentations help deepen understanding of how play fosters growth, connection, and transformation.

“Play is not a break from therapy. It is the therapy.”
